Sermon Series: 30 Years: Transforming Lives and Transforming Communities Week 1
Sermon Title: Celebrating the Past: Fueling the Future delivered on September 7, 2025
Day 1 READ: 1 Chronicles 28:1-10. What was King David charged with and charging his son Solomon with? What keywords jump out at you throughout these verses? How does God desire for us to respond when He calls us to take bold steps of faith?
Day 1 PRAY: Take a moment to pause and pray, thanking Jesus for His willingness to fulfill the eternal plan of salvation for humanity. Thank Him for His call in your life and His saving work on your behalf. Commit to Him an area in your life that you sense He is calling you to grow in your faith (maybe a new direction or to confront a challenging situation). Set aside some time to fast and pray throughout the rest of your day as you seek His direction and wisdom.
Day 2 READ: 1 Chronicles 28:11-21. How did David get the plans for the construction of the temple? How diligently and seriously did he take the word of God and the Spirit’s directions? What were his final words to his son in verse 20? Where else have you heard those words? Why are these words significant to us still today?
Day 2 PRAY: Read Joshua 1:9. Write down what God brings to your mind as you read, meditate on, and pray the words found in this passage and in verse 20 above. Take time to pray for the strength and courage to face whatever challenge or calling you are facing today! Invite God to fill you with peace as you walk with Him and trust in Him.
Day 3 READ: 1 Chronicles 29:1-9. How did David invite the leaders and the people of Israel to be a part of the temple construction? What did he do before he invited others into the process? How does that speak to us in our lives, especially if we are leading a family, business, military, etc.? What leadership principles do you see here? How does this also apply to our giving to the Lord’s work?
Day 3 PRAY: Seek time and space to be alone with God today. Ask God to show you an area of your life that you need to make a higher priority (to dedicate fully to the Lord). Commit to following His lead in that and invite Him to show you the steps you can take to be faithful in following His direction.
Day 4 READ: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20. How did David respond to the Lord’s faithfulness and the movement of the people to the invitation? What does this say about David’s heart for God and his willingness to follow him with integrity? How might this encourage us today as we think about celebrating what God has done through Shoreline Church, but also inviting us into the next season of Shoreline Church?
Day 4 PRAY: Thank Jesus for the gift of the Holy Spirit residing in you as God’s temple. Thank Him for what He did to make that a present and eternal reality for you. Ask Him to show you an area in your life where you could be more honoring to His temple (your body). Commit to taking at least one step to make any changes needed to better honor the Lord in this area of your life.
Day 5 READ: 1 Chronicles 29:21-29. What does this tell us about the legacy of King David? Did David live a perfect life (Hint: Remember Bathsheba?)? How did David respond when he sinned against God earlier in his life? How does this encourage us when we think of our own sinfulness and brokenness?
Day 5 PRAY: Pause and thank Jesus for His eternal forgiveness of your sin. Thank Him for His grace and His faithfulness to forgive you and take your sin upon Himself on the cross. Read 1 John 1:9. How might this verse encourage you today?

Memorize and Reflect

1 Chronicles 29:14
“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
