Sermon Series: Stronger Together Week 4Sermon Title: Elijah and Elisha: A Friend Sees Your True Potential delivered on May 25, 2025
Day 1 READ: 1 Kings 17. What are some examples of Elijah’s faith in God? How does this encourage you to respond to God’s call and trust Him in providing for you?
Day 1 PRAY: Take a moment to pause and pray, thanking Jesus for His provision for you. Thank Him for saving you and walking with you as you have faced challenges and obstacles in your lifetime. Invite Him to give you a sense of peace that He is working actively on your behalf in your life right now.
Day 2 READ: 1 Kings 18. What are some examples of Elijah’s boldness and courage? How does this encourage you to be bold and courageous in your life and in sharing your faith?
Day 2 PRAY: Take time to pray and ask God to show you a specific area in your life where you need to be bolder and more courageous. Ask God to give you the confidence and peace to take the next step to follow HIs leading.
Day 3 READ: 1 Kings 19. How does Elijah’s response in verse 3 contrast with the Elijah from chapter 18? What do we learn about God in verses 9-18? How does Elijah respond to God’s renewed call on his life in verses 19-21?
Day 3 PRAY: Find a quiet place or space to get alone with God. Thank Him for saving you and for providing for you. Be open and honest with Him and acknowledge any areas in your life where you are feeling spiritually drained or discouraged, anxious or fearful, or worried and doubting. Be still and silent before Him and focus on listening for His still, small voice. As you feel prompted, write down what you believe He is communicating to you. Share it with a Christian friend and ask them to pray for you.
Day 4 READ: 2 Kings 2. How does Elisha respond to the news of Elijah’s impending departure? What do we learn from Elisha’s bold request of Elijah? How does that help us to be both humble and bold in asking God in our prayers?
Day 4 PRAY: Spend time in prayer with God, thanking Him for His provision for you. Humbly ask Him to provide for you in a specific area of your life where you are lacking something (strength, friendship, finances, peace, etc.). Invite His will to be done in this situation and thank Him for hearing and responding to your prayer.
Day 5 READ: 2 Kings 4. How do we see God’s double blessing on Elisha come to life in this chapter? How do the miracles God did through Elisha point us to some of the miracles Jesus performed in His ministry (i.e., healing, raising to life)?
Day 5 PRAY: Pause and thank Jesus for the miracles He has performed in your life, including calling you, saving you, and welcoming you into His family. Invite Him to use you as His ambassador to share the Good News with someone in your life who doesn’t yet know Jesus.
