View Sermon Notes →
Day 1 READ: Matthew 4: 1-11 How did Jesus prepare for being out in the world and wilderness to execute his mission? What are our missions, and how can we prepare? If we know that temptation comes to us all, how does memorizing Scripture equip us?
Day 1 PRAY: Pray for direction, resolve, and accountability to make memorized verses a larger part of your life.
Day 2 READ: Luke 24: 1-35. Jesus was not immediately apparent to the two disciples walking with him after the resurrection. As he shared who he was, their eyes were opened- all of Scripture was about him. How do we keep this in mind when we read the Bible, the Old Testament, and the New Testament?
Day 2 PRAY: For God to keep the reality of who Scripture is about fresh in your mind and heart.
Day 3 READ: 2 Timothy 3
Day 3 PRAY: Invite the Holy Spirit to open your mind to all that Scripture accomplishes. Search where the Word rebukes you, teaches you, trains you, and equips you.
Day 4 READ: Deuteronomy 6:1-9. What are the “doorposts” referred to here? How do we “write them” on our hearts and the frames of our homes? What are parallels today?
Day 4 PRAY: Ask the Lord to grow your trust in the Bible. Pray this: “Heavenly Father, please write your Holy Word on my heart, instill it in my mind, allow my senses to commit to memory your wisdom, truth, and direction. And Lord, please do this daily so that I may please you and live abundantly.”
Day 5 READ: Ephesians 5: 8-10, John 14: 27, Philippians 4: 4-13
Day 5 PRAY: Pray for God to speak to you through these verses, but pray also for specific verses to speak to you in your circumstances. Trust him to guide you and bless you.
Memorize and Reflect
2 Timothy 3: 16-17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
