Day 1 READ: Exodus 2:11-22
What do we learn about the condition of God’s people at this time while they lived in Egypt? What do we learn about Moses and his temperament? What are the massive twists and turns that take place in the life of Moses at this time?

Day 1 PRAY: What are ways we can end up in various types of bondage, and how can this be a result of our own choices and decisions? What is one step you can take to seek the freedom of God and walk away from a life of bondage?

Day 2 READ: Exodus 2:23-3:15
What happened to the people of Israel, and how did they call out to God in their time of need? What do you learn about God as He spoke to Moses? What do you learn about Moses as he spoke to God?

Day 2 PRAY: Where do you need God to come near you, empower you, and deliver you? Take time to cry out to Him with honest pleas and groaning for His help.

Day 3 READ: Exodus 11:1-12:11
This is the final plague on Egypt. How does the blood of a lamb act as the protection for the people of God? How does this connect to the sacrifice of Jesus and His shed blood?

Day 3 PRAY: Take time to think about the connection between the sacrificial lamb of the Passover and the price Jesus paid on the cross. The next time you plan to receive communion, read this passage again and let your heart and mind be moved by the power of what Jesus did to save you from the just punishment you deserved for your sins.

Day 4 READ: Exodus 13:1-16
How were the commemorations written about in this passage meant to help the people remember what God had done when He led them out of captivity? How does partaking in communion (with an open heart) help us remember what Jesus did to pay the price for our sins?

Day 4 PRAY: Make a list of what the bread of communion should mean for Christians. What does this remind us of? Do the same with the cup.

Day 5 READ: Exodus 13:17-22
What did God know about the courage of His people (or lack of courage)? What did God do to give His people confidence that He was with them at all times?

Day 5 PRAY: Think about some of the things you have around your home, workplace, or other places that remind you of God’s presence, power, and faithfulness to you. Why are simple reminders of God’s goodness helpful as we seek to follow Jesus today and in the future?

Exodus 12:13

The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.
