Sermon Series: Rooted Week 4
Sermon Title: Rooted in Faith delivered on July 13, 2025
Day 1 READ: Colossians 2:6-15 (Read Colossians 2:6 and 7 out loud a number of times)- What does your life look like when you are firmly connected to Jesus and walking in His ways? How can you overflow with thankfulness this week?
Day 1 PRAY: Thank God for people who have invested in your spiritual growth and helped you follow Jesus. Ask God to grow the roots of your faith deeper in Jesus over this coming year.
Day 2 READ: Colossians 2:6-15 (Read Colossians 2:9 and 10 several times and think about how Jesus has grown you as His follower)- How is Jesus growing you in the fullness of who He wants you to be? What is one way you can step even deeper into all God has planned for your life?
Day 2 PRAY: Lift up prayers praising Jesus as the divine God of heaven! Pray for Jesus to rule and reign over your life and protect you from any enticements of the enemy of your soul.
Day 3 READ: Colossians 2:6-15 (Read Colossians 2:13 over and over and think about all Jesus has forgiven you). What sins has Jesus washed away, forgiven, and cast into the deepest sea? What sins still linger? Offer this to Jesus and ask for power to resist and run from this sin.
Day 3 PRAY: Praise God that He has set you free from sin through the finished work of Jesus on the cross and at the empty tomb. Pray for eyes to see where sin still lingers and for courage to face and fight against the power of sin.
Day 4 READ: Colossians 2:16-23 (Read Colossians 2:18-22 a few times and reflect on the call to run from pride and walk in humility)- What are some of the sources of pride that Christians can deal with? How can you identify pride in your heart and offer it to Jesus today?
Day 4 PRAY: Confess where pride is lurking and living in your heart. Ask for the Holy Spirit to grow humility deep in your soul over the coming weeks and months.
Day 5 READ: Colossians 2:16-23 (Read Colossians 2:23 over and over until you have a sense that it is becoming rooted deeply into your soul)- What are some of the sensual indulgences that our world offers freely, and why can they be so dangerous? What are ways we can resist and defend ourselves from these soul-destroying behaviors?
Day 5 PRAY: Ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify where the enemy is placing sensual indulgences in front of you. Pray for yourself and the people you love to learn how to resist these attacks of the devil and walk in the victory of Jesus.

Memorize and Reflect

Colossians 2:6-7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Additional Resources

  3. Ask a person in your life who loves Jesus and whom you really trust to tell you where they see pride or a need to grow in humility. Seek to listen with a humble heart and act on what you learn.
  4. Pay attention this week and look for ways the enemy is seeking to entice you to engage in sensual indulgence. Fortify your life against these enticements.
