Day 1 READ: John 20:1-18
What was Mary’s initial response to the stone being rolled away? How did John and Peter differ in their approach to the tomb? What was Mary’s response to Jesus calling her name? How does her faith show following her encounter with Jesus? How should we respond to Jesus’ commands?
Day 1 PRAY: Pause and thank God for His amazing grace and the power to raise Jesus from the grave. Thank Him for His salvation and for walking with you in the hard times and uncertain seasons of life. Ask Him to show you how you can trust Him more this week.
Day 2 READ: John 20:19-23
What were the disciples doing when Jesus came to them? What words did Jesus communicate to them? Where else in the gospels did Jesus share words about peace and the peace that He alone offers? How might this encourage you today as you face a challenging or fear-inducing situation this week?
Day 2 PRAY: Pause and thank Jesus for making the way for you to be at peace with God eternally. AskHim to fill you with a renewed sense of His peace as you contemplate the week ahead of you, perhaps a conversation or situation you might be facing. Commit to pray anytime this week you begin to feel fearful, discouraged, anxious, or worried.
Day 3 READ: John 20:24-29
As you read this passage, what stands out to you about Thomas? Why do you think Jesus made a second visit to the house, one week later? How does this encourage you in your faith even when you face moments of doubt?
Day 3 PRAY: Thank Jesus for His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection proving He is who He says He is and for fulfilling the promises of God. Invite Him to show you an area in your life where you might not be fully trusting Jesus or struggling with doubt. Confess this to Him and invite Him to renew and strengthen your faith in this area.
Day 4 READ: Luke 24:13-35
Why do you think Jesus chose to keep His identity hidden from the disciples? Where did Jesus point them as they walked together discussing Jesus’ death? When were their eyes opened to Him? What does that tell us about the importance of understanding scripture and embracing all of God’s Word as truth? How might gratitude and thankfulness help you see Jesus in a fresh light today?
Day 4 PRAY: Find a space to be alone and quiet before the Lord. As you do, offer up words of adoration (declaring who God is), confess any sin or sinful attitudes in your life and ask for forgiveness. Thank Him for His grace, mercy, forgiveness, and healing. Lift up any needs or requests for His provision. Thank Him for hearing your prayer and moving according to His will.
Day 5 READ: John 21:1-19.
Why did Jesus choose this location to reappear to the disciples? What scene does this remind you of from earlier in Peter and John’s life while fishing? What did Jesus say to Peter? Why did He ask him three times? How does this encourage you, knowing you will fail Jesus and fall short many times in the future?
Day 5 PRAY: Pause and thank Jesus for His amazing grace and unconditional love for you. Thank Him for His forgiveness of your past sins and for His mercy to restore you by His grace. Ask Him to show you any area that you might still need forgiveness. Confess your shortfall and ask Him for forgiveness. Thank Him for His forgiveness and commit to taking steps to follow Jesus closer.
