Day 1 READ: Genesis 3:1-13.
What tactics do you see Satan using in this passage? What are some of the lies the enemy tries to whisper into your ears? How does the devil try to candy-coat sin and make it look delicious rather than poisonous?
Day 1 PRAY: Make a list of lies the enemy has spoken to you in the past, and keep your eyes open for where he tries to use these same deceptions in your life today.
Day 2 READ: Matthew 4:1-11.
What are the three specific ways Satan tries to tempt Jesus? How does Jesus resist these temptations and fight back? What are the ways you can fight back against the enemy as Jesus did?
Day 2 PRAY: Take time to memorize three short passages that you can meditate on when you feel the enemy attacking your heart, mind, and life. Colossians 2:15; James 4:7; and 1 John 4:4.
Day 3 READ: Luke 4:1-13.
When Satan said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God…” what was he trying to do? How does the devil question who you are, and why is this such a dangerous tactic? How did the devil misuse Scripture? Why is it so important that you have Bible passages deep in your heart and mind?
Day 3 PRAY: Do a study on who you become through faith in Jesus. Make a list of who you are in Jesus and post this list somewhere you can see it and be reminded that you are a child of God, more than a conqueror, forgiven, and so much more!
Day 4 READ: James 4:4-10.
What does it mean to be a “friend of the world,” and how can you avoid this temptation? How can you draw near to God…what actions can you take to do this? What are the ways you need to resist the devil?
Day 4 PRAY: Make a list of 3-5 ways you are tempted to get a little too cozy and friendly with the world (and the ways of the world). Make time this week to resist these invitations and to become more friendly with God and less intimate with the world.
Day 5 READ: 1 Peter 5:6-11.
How does growing in humility bring you closer to God? How does letting pride run wild in your heart and life open the door for Satan to work in your life? How is the devil like a lion in the way he prowls around, hunts, and is always ready to pounce?
Day 5 PRAY: Spend time praying for God to grow humility in your heart and life. Confess where you tend to become proud and self-confident rather than looking to the Lord for strength and leadership.

Memorize and Reflect

James 4:7

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
