Lay Counseling Trainee

Join us for a 12-week training on how to serve as a Lay Counselor. Lay Counselors provide:

  • Bible-based counseling by trained non-professional volunteers in a confidential, Christ-centered setting.
  • Compassionate listening, encouragement, and guidance with a Biblical foundation.
  • Clarify problems, express and share feelings, and resolve conflicts within healthy personal boundaries.
  • Help connect clients to local support resources.

The program includes up to six sessions within a 90-day time frame. These sessions are held at an offsite location, usually for 50-minute sessions, making it convenient for you to balance your other commitments. This in-depth training is designed to equip new Lay Counselors to work as volunteers with our clients. Pastor Dennis will teach most sessions, with some sessions taught by our current Lay Counselors.
