Reflecting on the Most Recent Sermon
Sermon Series: Equipped Sermon Title: Growing, Developing, and Using Your Gifts
Delivered On: October 2, 2016
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ([bible]1 Corinthians 13:4[/bible])
Ask God to help you delight in using the gifts He has given you. Also, praise God for the gifts that the people in your life have, and ask God to help you bless and affirm their spiritual gifts. Pray for courage and boldness to use your gifts more and more for Jesus.
Just Do It - Make a commitment to try one new ministry that lines up with your gifting. If you have the gift of service, try serving in a new way. If you have the gift of compassion, jump into a new Shoreline care ministry. If you have the gift of giving, give at a new level. Take a step of faith.
Small Group Discussion
If you have done any gardening or farming, tell about some of the things you need to do to grow a good crop or have a good harvest. What are the consequences if you fail to do these things?
Read: 1 Corinthians 12:15-18 What are some of the ways we can devalue and miss the importance of the gifts God has given us? Why is it important for us to rejoice in our gifts and really name and own them?
Tell your group about one or more of the gifts God has given you and describe some of the ways God has used your gifts to minister to others. By the way, this is not pride, but giving glory to God!
Read: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 God wants love to be the primary governing factor over how you use the spiritual gifts He has given you. What are the specific attributes of the love God wants to unleash in you that will help you use your gifts for His glory?
Read: Romans 12:6-8 Identify one spiritual gift God has given you and talk about some of the ways you could use this gift in the church and outside of the church.
The apostle Paul calls us to use our gifts as much as we can, to grow them, to expand them. What is one way you can take a gift God has given you and use it more intentionally and fully for the glory of Jesus? How can your group members pray for you and encourage you to follow through and grow this gift?
Read: Ephesians 4:11-13 Tell about how you have been equipped, trained and prepared to use one of your spiritual gifts. How can you put yourself in a place where you will be trained and equipped to develop your gift even more?
How can your group members pray for you to actively seek to expand and develop the gift God has given you? Take time to pray for each other to use your gifts more and more fully in the coming weeks and months.
