Memorize and Reflect

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Prayer Direction

Ask God to help you become an active and joy-filled member of His Church. Pray for Jesus to give you a clear picture of His mission and plan for your life and then commit to pursue this mission with all the strength He gives you. Invite the Holy Spirit of God to make you more and more like Jesus with each passing day.

“Live It!” Challenge

This World is Not My Home Try something this coming week. Every time you walk into the place you live, quietly say to yourself, “This is a temporary dwelling that I am thankful for. But, heaven is my home! I am not home yet.” Let this discipline keep your mind on the truth that heaven awaits all those who know and love Jesus.

Small Group Discussion

  1. As you look at the world around you, how are people making possessions (acquiring, maintaining, and using them) too important in their life? How are you drawn into making the things of this world too important in your life?

  2. When you think of people in your generation, which of these seems to draw people in the most (in terms of making their life's meaning about this)?
    Popularity
    Passion
    Profession
How does seeking meaning in this (popularity, passion, or profession) as the most important thing in life keep a person from fully experiencing God’s meaning and purpose for their life?

  3. Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 26 How can being part of the Church, the body of Christ, lead to meaning and purpose in life? How have you found meaning by being part of the Church?

  4. If you know what spiritual gift God has given you, what is it and how are you developing and using it for the glory of Jesus?

  5. Read: Matthew 28:16-20 Jesus calls all of His people to make disciples and help them grow. What are ways this is happening at Shoreline Church? How can you engage more actively in this mission of the church?

  6. Tell about someone who helped reach out to you with the message and love of Jesus. Tell about another person who has helped you grow in your faith. How can you have this same kind of impact on the life of another person?

  7. Read: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 How do we become more like Jesus as we walk with Him and grow in faith? What is one area you feel God is calling you to grow in Christlikeness? How can your group members pray for you as you seek to grow in this area of spiritual maturity?

  8. Read: 1 Corinthians 11:1 Who is a person that has been an example of a life that looks a lot like Jesus? What have you learned from this person and how has their example helped you grow in faith?

  9. Read: Revelation 21:3-4 How does thinking about heaven as our final destiny actually help us live more for Jesus in our life today?

  10. As you look at the world around you, how are people making possessions (acquiring, maintaining, and using them) too important in their life? How are you drawn into making the things of this world too important in your life?
