Memorize and Reflect

Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. (Acts 16:6-7)

Prayer Direction

Ask for a heart that is receptive to hear when the Spirit says “Stop” or “Go.” Pray for boldness when the Holy Spirit opens the doors to share the love, grace, and story of Jesus with someone who needs to know about God’s love. Ask God to give you power to follow His leading even when it involves struggle, suffering, or sacrifice.

“Live It!” Challenge

Stop and Go Make a commitment to stop one thing you feel the Spirit has been convicting you about and to also start one thing you know God has been prompting you to do. Ask someone else to pray for you and keep you accountable to follow through on both of these.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Read: Acts 16:6-10 Tell about a time you felt prompted by the Spirit to stop or quit something. How did you respond to this prompting and what happened?

  6. Read: Acts 16:22-24 All through the Bible we learn that faithful and God-honoring people still face conflict and suffering. What are some reasons God allows His children to suffer and face conflict in life? How can our suffering actually advance the work of God in our world?
