Memorize and Reflect

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” (1 Peter 3:15)

Prayer Direction

Ask for a heart that is humbled and receptive to the Holy Spirit’s call to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pray for a heart of compassion to see and care and a heart of courage and conviction to speak and share with those who don’t yet know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Ask God to give you opportunities this week to enter into spiritual conversations and to share the Gospel as the Holy Spirit leads.

“Live It!” Challenge

111+1 Make a commitment to stop and pray for 1 minute at 1:00 PM for 1 person who is not a follower of Christ daily and take 1 step this next week to share the Gospel with them. Continue to do this over this next month and see how the Holy Spirit has worked in their lives and in your own life as a Christ-follower. Ask someone else to pray for you and keep you accountable to follow through on praying for this person and sharing the Gospel.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Read: Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8. In Jesus’ Great Commission for His followers He makes it clear that we each have a role in making disciples. How does this affect your call to share the Gospel?

  2. Jesus also provided us with a promise in the form of His presence with us no matter where or when we are living. In what capacity do you see the Holy Spirit being a fulfillment of this promise for all Christians?

  3. Read: Acts 2. One of the outcomes of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the believers was the proclamation of the Gospel by Peter to a large crowd of people gathered on the day of Pentecost? What do you know about Peter from the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John)? How does Peter’s ability to stand and boldly proclaim the Gospel differ from the Peter who denied and even cursed the name of Jesus in John 18?

  4. What does this say about the power of the Holy Spirit to not only transform the lives of Christ-followers, but also embolden and encourage individual believers to proclaim the Gospel?

  5. Read: 1 Peter 3:15. Written by the Apostle Peter inspired by the Holy Spirit, how does this verse encourage us when it comes to proclaiming the Gospel?

  6. Read: Acts 3. Throughout the Book of Acts we see God’s amazing hand move through the power of the Holy Spirit and the lives of the apostles and believers including healing and proclaiming of the Gospel. However, in the midst of many of these amazing accounts we see persecution, punishment and imprisonment. What does this say to us about the courage and conviction of the early church leaders and their faith in Jesus? What does this say about the response to God’s work and how people may respond even today when we present the Gospel?

  7. Read: Acts 4. When falsely imprisoned and facing incredible adversity, Peter boldly confronted the highest level of Jewish leadership (note many of the names were also present at Jesus’ trial in John 21) and shared the Gospel. As we read and reflect on this passage, how does this help us see potential obstacles and challenges to our faith in Jesus as opportunities to share the Gospel?

  8. As we have discovered thus far in the Book of Acts, the power of prayer and the presence of the Holy Spirit seem to be synonymous. As you reflect on your own prayer life and the desire to be more willing and able to share the Gospel, what changes can you make daily to fully embrace the power of the Holy Spirit and be attuned to His work in relation to sharing the Good News?
