Memorize and Reflect

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." (Luke 2:10)

Prayer Direction

Take time to thank God for loving you enough to send His one and only Son to enter our world and offer forgiveness from your sins. Pray for one friend or family member to open their heart to Jesus this Christmas season. Pray for wisdom to slow down and really enjoy and experience the blessing of Christmas.

“Live It!” Challenge

111 or 911: Think of one person you love and care about who is not yet a follower of Jesus. Commit to pray for this one person every day for one-minute at one o’clock every day through the New Year. Put a reminder in your phone and repeat it every day. Pray for their heart to grow soft to Jesus, for spiritual curiosity, and for many Christians to share the true meaning of Christmas with this person during the coming month. If one o’clock in the afternoon does not work for you… set your reminder for nine in the evening and call it your 911 Christmas prayer!

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about one person in your life that you love and care about who is not yet a follower of Jesus. Are they open and spiritually curious or closed and resistant? How can your group members pray for this person and for you as you seek to shine the light of Jesus into the life of this person you love?

  2. Tell about how you came to put your faith in Jesus. What questions did you have about Jesus that needed to be answered and how did God answer these?

  3. Read: Matthew 2:2-12. How did these men end up coming to Jesus and how did they respond to their encounter with the baby Messiah? What drew you to Jesus?

  4. Why do you think these men bowed down to Jesus, gave gifts, and protected him by going home another way and not telling King Herod where he was? What are ways you can celebrate Jesus by giving gifts to Him?

  5. Read: Luke 2:8-20. How did the shepherds end up coming to meet Jesus and how did they respond to their encounter with the infant Savior of the world? What keeps you from making time to draw near Jesus and adore Him and how can you remove this obstacle?

  6. Have you ever experienced a sign from God that drew you closer to Him? Tell your story.

  7. What is one step you can take to worship Jesus with greater passion and joy?

  8. What step can you take to tell someone about Jesus this Christmas season?

  9. Tell about one person in your life that you love and care about who is not yet a follower of Jesus. Are they open and spiritually curious or closed and resistant?
